Let’s talk about your home town. Where were you born?

I was born in a place called Rochester in the Medway towns in Kent.

Do you still live in Rochester?

No, I haven’t lived in Rochester for a long time now, since I went to college. I live in London.

Do most people like living in Rochester?

I guess they do. I always wanted to live in London, so… my family still live there, but I guess it’s a nice place.

Why?

Well, it’s got beautiful architecture and it’s the home of Dickens and so there’s quite a lot of historical interest there and you’ve got countryside nearby and it’s easily accessible for London.

Do you think you’ll stay in London?

Oh, I don’t know. I’ve been here for quite a while now and although I love it, I can’t imagine spending my whole life here.

I’d like to move on to talk about sport. What’s your favourite sport?

My favourite sport to watch is football, but to participate in, it’s swimming.

When did you first become interested in swimming?

Gosh, when I was a child, my dad used to take me swimming every week and I swam for my school.

How often do you participate in swimming now?

I try to swim at least two times a week.

What equipment do you need for swimming?

The great thing is that you don’t really need any equipment apart from goggles and trunks.

Where do you go swimming?

Anywhere I am. I love swimming in the sea but mainly I swim at my local pool.

Now, let’s move on to talk about shopping. How do you feel about going shopping?

I don’t mind going shopping. I like to know exactly what I’m going shopping for, though, I like to get in, buy it and go home again.

Do you like buying clothes or goods on the Internet?

I’ve never bought clothes on the Internet because I like to try them on before buying them but I’ve certainly bought electrical goods and other things on the Internet.

What don’t you like about shopping?

I don’t really like big crowds of people and fighting my way through them to get what I want. I guess I don’t like paying for it all.

One healthy activity I particularly enjoy is hiking. I often go hiking in a local nature reserve near my home. This reserve is situated in a hilly area with a variety of trails that range from easy to challenging.

Yes, hiking is quite popular in my country. We have many beautiful national parks and nature reserves that attract both locals and tourists. People of all ages and fitness levels enjoy hiking, as it offers a way to appreciate nature and stay active. Many communities organize group hikes and outdoor events, which further promotes the activity.

Are there any other activities you would recommend for maintaining a healthy lifestyle?

Definitely. Besides hiking, activities like cycling, swimming, and practicing yoga are excellent for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Cycling provides a low-impact cardiovascular workout, swimming is great for overall fitness and flexibility, and yoga helps with balance, relaxation, and stress reduction. Each of these activities offers unique benefits and can be tailored to different fitness levels and preferences.

How do you stay motivated to continue with healthy activities?

Staying motivated can sometimes be challenging, but having a routine and setting goals helps. I keep myself motivated by setting specific, achievable goals, such as increasing the distance I hike or improving my fitness level. I also enjoy tracking my progress and celebrating small achievements, which helps maintain my enthusiasm.

What do you think is more important for maintaining good health: exercise or diet?

Both exercise and diet are crucial for maintaining good health, and it’s hard to prioritize one over the other. Exercise helps with cardiovascular health, muscle strength, and mental well-being, while a balanced diet provides essential nutrients and supports overall bodily functions. Ideally, a combination of regular exercise and a healthy diet will provide the best results for long-term health and wellness.
