IELTS Speaking Test
Would you enjoy living in the countryside?
Definitely yes! Sometimes I wish my grandparents hadn’t migrated to Mumbai. I would have loved to grow up in our village on the Konkan coast, close to the sea, listening to the sound of the waves instead of the constant cacophony of horns!
Do you prefer living in a city or the countryside? Why?
This is not an easy question. People often romanticize life in the high mountains but it is tough. Food is very expensive and locals have to walk through dangerous terrain on a daily basis. Winters are biting cold and clear running water is hard to find. So I’ll admit that city life is easier.

Would you like to live in the countryside in the future?
Not anytime soon! I can see myself living in the countryside when I am retired and walk a slower pace of life. At the moment, the countryside is great for a relaxing day out or to go and paint the landscape but I feel more at home in the city.
Have you ever spent time in the countryside?
I go to the countryside in the North of Spain every summer as Madrid can become unbearably hot. My family have a chalet there so we all go and stay and laze about in the garden and swim in the pool. We take long walks in the mountains in the mornings and have long lunches in the afternoon followed by a nap.

Is farming important in your country?
It is very common for people to take on farming duties in rural areas. It is actually one of the main industries in my country, with over fifty percent of the population living off of it.
How often do you visit farms?
I live in a metropolitan city, so I am quite far from any farming areas, but every few months I will go visit one for a change of pace.
What can we do to support farmers?
An idea could be to purchase products from local businesses, rather than buying mass-produced merchandise from large factories. I personally enjoy going to markets where people sell their own food, like fresh fruit and vegetables, and sometimes meat, too.

I was accompanied by my parents, my younger sister, and a few close friends who had also graduated. Having them there made the experience even more special, as it allowed us to share the joy and pride of the moment together.
When the day of the ceremony finally arrived, I felt an overwhelming sense of accomplishment and happiness. Walking across the stage to receive my diploma was a proud moment that made all the effort worthwhile.
