IELTS Speaking Test
What kinds of places are crowded?
Almost everywhere in my city! However, I would say especially the streets. For one, people really like spending time eating and hanging out on the streets. Secondly, since the old streets are narrow, they tend to become overcrowded with vehicles. Moreover, markets and shopping malls are quite hectic, as people in my country enjoy street shopping.
Do you like to go to crowded places?
Not one bit! I start to feel extremely overwhelmed and want to exit the area immediately. Moreover, it’s unpleasant to be pushed and shoved in overcrowded places. Furthermore, it’s even worse in the summer when people are sweating and have body odor!
Why do some people like to go to crowded places?
Hmm, well I guess they like the chaos. For some, it’s exciting to watch madness unfold around them. Furthermore, I think they like the lively feeling that crowded places carry. Perhaps it’s interesting to those who come from small towns and villages.
IELTS Speaking Test
When was the last time you were in a crowded place?
The last time I was in a crowded place was when I had gone out to attend a religious procession with my family. Even though I wasn’t keen on going since I obviously dislike crowds, my family made me go with them as it was an important festival for us.

SAMPLE ANSWER
The last time I went to the cinema was about a month ago. I went to a local cinema in downtown with my best friend, Emma. We decided to catch a film because we both had been eagerly anticipating a new release and wanted to enjoy a relaxing evening out.
We watched the latest movie in the “Intergalactic Adventures” series, which was a science fiction film. This franchise has been a favorite of ours for years, and we were excited to see how the new installment would unfold. The film had been generating a lot of buzz on social media, and the trailers looked promising, so we were both looking forward to it.

I chose this film because of my love for science fiction and the positive reviews it had received. The previous films in the series had been quite engaging, combining imaginative storytelling with impressive visual effects, and I was hoping this one would be just as captivating.
As for whether I liked it or not, I would say that I did, though with some reservations. The film had stunning visuals and action sequences that kept us on the edge of our seats. However, I felt that the plot was a bit convoluted at times, and some of the character development was lacking compared to earlier films in the series. Despite these shortcomings, it was a fun experience overall, and it was great to share it with a friend who appreciates the genre as much as I do.

PART – 3 FOLLOW UPS
Did you find the experience of watching the film in the cinema different from watching it at home?
Yes, definitely. The large screen and surround sound in the cinema create an immersive experience that you just can’t replicate at home. The atmosphere of the cinema, with the collective anticipation and reactions from the audience, adds to the excitement. Watching at home can be more comfortable, but it lacks the grandeur of the cinema experience.
How do you usually decide which movies to watch?
I usually decide based on a combination of factors. I look at reviews from critics and fellow moviegoers, check out trailers, and consider the genre or director. Recommendations from friends and family also play a big role in my decision-making process. If a movie has good reviews and aligns with my interests, I’m more likely to watch it.
IELTS Speaking Test
What did your friend think of the movie?
Emma had a similar opinion. She enjoyed the visual effects and the action scenes but also thought the plot was a bit confusing at times. We both agreed that while it wasn’t the best installment in the series, it was still an enjoyable experience, especially with the fun atmosphere of watching it together.
Do you prefer going to the cinema or watching movies at home?
I enjoy both experiences for different reasons. The cinema is great for the big-screen experience and the excitement of seeing new releases. However, watching movies at home is more relaxed and convenient, and you can pause or rewind scenes if needed. Overall, I think the choice depends on the movie and the occasion.
IELTS Speaking Test
Have you ever had a memorable experience at the cinema that stands out?
Yes, one memorable experience was watching “Inception” when it first came out. The combination of the mind-bending plot and the visual spectacle made it an unforgettable experience. The audience was so engaged, and the atmosphere was electric. It’s one of those films where the cinema experience really enhanced the enjoyment.
