IELTS SPEAKING INTERVIEW
PART – 1 INTRO
What is your full name?
My full name is Gurnam Singh.
How may I address you?
You may address me as Gurnam.
May I see your ID?
Sure, here it is.
Do you do any physical exercise?
You could call me a couch potato (a lazy person who sits on the sofa a lot. “Couch” is another word for sofa). I’m naturally thin without any exercise, so I’m quite lazy when it comes to exercise. I do go for mountain hikes, but I should definitely do more to gain muscle.

Do young people in your country like to do exercise?
Gyms are not very popular in my country because of the cost, but I would say that people get their fair share of exercise everyday because of the hills in the city. Many people climb a mountain to their home every single day! I used to live in a house that was unreachable by car and a total of 200 stairs to get there!
Do you think people are keen on doing physical activity? Why?
Well, I think they are quite accustomed to it. I don’t think they would be too keen on going to the gym, but they really enjoy going on mountain hikes. Since our religion is based upon the Mother Earth and the Mountain Gods, these treks are a spiritual journey.

Do you prefer to study in the morning or in the evening?
Definitely in the morning. I feel at my optimal level of performance when I first wake up in the morning after a cup of coffee. So, I like to get my studying out of the way (to get something done so you don’t have to worry about it) so I can relax more throughout the day. When I try to study in the evening, I tend to be too tired and unfocused.
What do you do to improve your efficiency?
Exercise! When I feel unmotivated or unfocused, exercise is the number one thing that keeps me on track (keep me focused). Second of all, taking a short break and coming back to my work with new, fresh ideas helps a bunch (a lot). Last of all, balancing work and my personal life helps me to perform to my best ability.

Why do some people find it difficult to focus in the morning?
Well, there could be a few different reasons. For one, I think many people don’t feel energized. Second of all, they may be distracted by all of the tasks they must complete that day. Lastly, they simply just may not be morning people (people who like the morning).

Art and craft are highly engaging and entertaining activities, and many people work on different arts and crafts during their leisure time. I also like doing art and craftwork such as pottery, origami, and painting. I am more involved with craft work, especially with toys and trinkets, and I have made a lot of small toys for toddlers.
I have a young friend in my neighborhood who plays cricket with me. While we were speaking one day, he told me about his fondness for cars. He also told me that almost all of his toys were cars, and he played a lot with them as well. At that moment, an idea struck me.

I came back to my home and quickly took out a small battery operated motor that was lying around unused. My idea was to use that motor to make a homemade toy car and gift it to him. I went around the house in search of materials such as cardboard, nuts, bolts, bottle caps, wires, and batteries. After collecting all the items, I assembled the car and worked on it until I was satisfied with the result.
It took me two days to complete the toy car, fortunately in time for his birthday on the weekend. Thinking that it would be a sensible gift, I had painted it and gift wrapped it as well. On his birthday, I gave him the car as a gift, and he liked it a lot. He said that the gift meant a lot to him. Due to this, I felt elated and proud of my skill and my idea.

PART – 3 FOLLOW UPS
Have you received anything that was handmade by the person who gave it to you?
Yes, I have received handmade cards many times from my students .But I particularly remember a time when I received the handmade bag from my friend . It was finished to the minutest details and it was made as if it was tailored for me. I still carry it with pride wherever I go. It is a very smart shoulder sling bag
When receiving a gift, do you prefer something that was self-made, or something bought in stores?
When I receive gift ,it is the intention that matters to me the most not whether it is expensive or inexpensive. When I know I am receiving something from a friend who has made it for me sparing his or her time it certainly feels good but the giver should be as happy to give as I am to receive. That matters to me the most.

Which is better, self-made food or food that you buy?
When it comes to food, I always prefer self made food and I enjoy the compliments I receive after after the guests relish the food that I serve. I certainly love to cook at home rather than buying food from the market or opening the packet and eating the food that is stuffed with preservatives and harmful additives. But sometimes when I am busy at work I can buy food from outside but I am very selective about the food being freshly cooked.
Are art classes important in schools?
These days children are under lot of stress from their academic workload. Art classes are stress busters. Moreover, art has been known as a fine value from times immemorial. Why would people work if there were no amusement and entertainment activities available. Hence art classes are very important for the holistic development of the children.
