IELTS SPEAKING INTERVIEW
PART – 1 INTRO
What is your name?
My name is Yuka Hi.
How may I address you?
You may address me as Yuka.
May I see your ID?
Sure, here is my passport.
Do you like to smile?
I love it! I have traveled extensively and seen that some other cultures smile more than others. When someone smiles, it brings me positive energy and instantly improves my mood. With this said, I have taken it upon myself to smile as much as possible to give others a warm feeling.

How often do you smile?
As much as possible! I’ve noticed that even when I’m having a bad day, a smile or laugh always helps. So, I try to smile whenever I meet or pass someone, as well as after a bad day.
Do you smile when you are having your picture taken?
Yes, I do! Although I prefer a more serious look for my selfies which shows off my bone structure more, I always smile in a group photo. Actually, sometimes I can’t help but to smile because I am having such a good time!
When do people smile to others?
In many different cases, but I would say usually when they make eye contact with someone or to people in their workplace. In my country, people usually don’t smile at everyone on the streets because that person may suspect us of wanting something from them.
Can you sense (or feel, or tell) if someone’s smile is fake?
Yes, I can! I can sense a fake smile but how much it looks forced. When someone’s smile is fake, they smile with just their mouth instead of their eyes. With this said, you can always tell a genuine smile by the eyes.

Model Answer
India is a developing country and the government is providing many amenities to the citizens. Recently the government has stressed on the need for public toilets, cleanliness and education. In our city, there were many open areas that were unused and unattended. The local administration of town has developed these into open or outdoor gyms.
There are exercise machines that are very simple to use and easy to maintain. Senior citizens do not have to go far for physiotherapy and exercise. The women do not sit on the benches and chat instead they exercise. This facility has added value to the health and also made good use of public land.

Around these parks, we can see some hawkers selling healthy food like milk, juice and cottage cheese. These have made areas around them very proactive and full of life. This endeavour made by our local administration is catching up in the neighbouring towns as well. Earlier these dirty corners were full of accumulated garbage and were breeding grounds for germs.
Many mischievous elements used to sit and play cards here but now the parks are full of positive energy. I would say the creation of open gyms have not only improved physical health but also contributed to mental peace and beautification.

PART – 3 FOLLOW UPS
What measures should be taken to deal with damages on public facilities?
There are quite a few solutions that could be applied. Some suggest that the government should impose stricter punishments on those who damage public facilities. For example, Singapore government has a fine of up to $1000 littering or public urination. Others, however, believe that instead of punishments, the authorities should simply provide more financial support to help renovate and refurbish outdated facilities.
What facilities do young people and old people like in your country?
I think the situation is similar in all nations, not just Vietnam. Old people prefer quiet places like parks or libraries , mostly because they hate noise and want to enjoy a sense of tranquility. Also, since old people are more vulnerable to both physical and mental issues, they tend to visit public places like hospitals more often. Meanwhile, young people love exciting and crowded places like malls or stadiums as they are more interested in having a good time or hanging out with friends.
What’s the difference between facilities in the countryside and the ones in the city?
Public facilities in the city are, without a doubt, better. Let’s take the road system in Vietnam as an example. In big cities like Hanoi, roads are often wider and there are more expressways and arterials roads. In comparison, most of the streets in the countryside are narrow and bumpybecause there are a lot of holes that can cause an accident at any time.
