IELTS SPEAKING INTERVIEW

PART – 1 INTRO

What is your full name?

My name is Wamiqkha Shrina.

How may I address you?

You may address me as Wamiqkha.

May I see your identification?

Sure, here you go.

How do you organize your time?

Hmm, well I’m not always the most organized person, but the good thing is that I’m not a procrastinator. I always do what needs to be done first, such as my errands or work tasks. After I do what I need to do, I will then allow myself to relax.

Do you make plans every day?

No, I don’t. I’m more of a spontaneous person. I don’t like to plan every second of every day, as plans can quickly change. I only plan out what I need to do and how to get it done, but I let my social interactions come up unplanned.

Would you say you manage your time well?

More or less. I’m not the most organized nor disorganized person on the planet. However, I can say with certainty that I always complete what is asked of me. On the other hand, I sometimes can’t do things like plan vacations very well.

Are you ever late for anything?

Once in a blue moon! I am a stickler about time, so I am almost never late. When I think about it, the only times I’ve been late for work were because of a traffic jam or an accident.

Do you think young people organize their time in the same way?

No, I don’t. I think that’s too general of a question. I believe everyone organizes their time in different ways. However, young people tend to have heavy work and study schedules, so they may not be able to manage their time and tasks as well as someone who doesn’t. So, in this case, young people have to prioritize more.

Cue Card Sample Answer:

Gifts play an important role in our lives. Today, I’m going to talk about a present which I gave to my cousin. He works as a marketing executive in a multinational company. Recently, he was promoted to the head of the sales department. To celebrate his achievement, he threw a party and warmly invited me to his house.

As per the traditions and customs of our society, I decided to buy a present for him as a token of my warm wishes. For this, I visited a nearby mall but due to the inadequate collection I couldn’t find the best suitable item.

Finally, I found a multi-brand store nearby and I looked for my choice there. Within no time, the salesman showed me an eye-catching set of cufflinks, tie and a pocket square with an attractive packing. That was exactly what I wanted, so I finalized it immediately and I requested the shopkeeper to wrap the same in a decorative wrapping paper. On the eve of the party, I presented it to my cousin.

To my surprise, he liked it so much that he wore it on the party night. This gift was unique for several reasons.

Firstly, the amount of time and energy I spent in purchasing it. Secondly, it served the purpose and everyone  praised for its appealing color and design. Not to mention, my cousin was looking outstanding with the tie because it was a perfect match with his well-designed black suit.

PART – 3 FOLLOW UPS

Have you received anything that was handmade by the person who gave it to you?

Yes, I have received handmade cards many times from my students. But I particularly remember a time when I received the handmade bag from my friend. It was finished to the minutest details and it was made as if it was tailored for me. I still carry it with pride wherever I go. It is a very smart shoulder sling bag

When receiving a gift, do you prefer something that was self-made, or something bought in stores?

When I receive gift, it is the intention that matters to me the most not whether it is expensive or inexpensive. When I know I am receiving something from a friend who has made it for me sparing his or her time it certainly feels good but the giver should be as happy to give as I am to receive. That matters to me the most.

Which is better, self-made food or food that you buy?

When it comes to food, I always prefer self made food and I enjoy the compliments I receive after after the guests relish the food that I serve. I certainly love to cook at home rather than buying food from the market or opening the packet and eating the food that is stuffed with preservatives and harmful additives. But sometimes when I am busy at work I can buy food from outside but I am very selective about the food being freshly cooked.

Are art classes important in schools?

These days children are under lot of stress from their academic workload. Art classes are stress busters. Moreover, art has been known as a fine value from times immemorial. Why would people work if there were no amusement and entertainment activities available? Hence art classes are very important for the holistic development of the children.
