IELTS SPEAKING INTERVIEW
PART – 1 INTRO
What is your full name?
My name is Urvado Mahir.
How may I address you?
You may address me as Urvado.
May I see your ID?
Sure, here it is.
What historical event do you find most interesting?
Personally, I am fond of the Battle of Red Cliffs which happened during the early period of the Three Kingdoms. This was a decisive battle at the end of the Han Dynasty. It was also a typical battle in Chinese history renowned for a smaller and weaker army defeating a larger and stronger foe.
Do you think history is important?
Yes, the main factor is that like our native language and our history forms our cultural identity and provides a unique record of our country. We can learn from the experiences of history to correct our current actions.

Do you like to watch programmes on TV about history?
Yes, I enjoy watching documentaries about history on TV because I can see a lot of materials that cannot be seen in the textbooks. I watch them at home during my time off with my son to learn something about history.
Do you think you can really learn history from films and TV programmes?
I don’t feel that watching current TV series can make you more aware of the history. TV programmes are more engaging than books; however, true historical events in most of the TV series have been distorted by the producers to cater for the audience. It’s really a shame, as young people will misunderstand history as presented by these companies.
Do you think the Internet is a good place to learn about history?
Yes. History is full of debates but you can understand both sides of the story by going online which will help you to become aware of the true facts and be able to think critically about these things. I’m always Goggling for interesting historical materials about the Song Dynasty. I want to know the truth of the matter.

SAMPLE ANSWER
Introduction
On a daily basis, there are so many things that are filled with risks. To begin with, I would like to talk to you about an incident where I took a risk and it turned out to be in my favour.
What it was?
After completion of my graduation I wanted to pursue a career outside the native nation. Initially, it was tough to convince my parents but somehow they agreed to send me to Canada for which I approached. Moreover, after all the procedures I was waiting for my visa and at the end while the wait was over I got rejected. Soon, we applied for the second time after covering and considering all the previous points mentioned in rejection. Unfortunately, I got rejected a second time because of the temporary stay.

Why you took it?
To be honest, I did want to go out, build a career and be successful. Therefore, I did not lose hope. Everyone around me told me to quit but I did not give up and applied for the third time without any second thoughts. The major risk was that we took out a loan and for the former rejections I already spent a lot of money for visa file process, medical for the second tie and college application fees.
In addition to this, I also started to study online from Canada’s top most college namely- Seneca and if I get rejected for the third time I’ll have to pay a certain amount of fees for the college and it would be difficult for my parents to clear out the loan despite all such expenditures.
What the result was?
After applying for the third time, after such a long wait,I finally got my visa.

How you felt about it?
It was completely overwhelming and the wait was totally worth it. I was so happy and most importantly my parents were happy. Soon after I got my passport request after two to three working days my passport was taken for stamping and the happiness on my face was countless. Once I received my stamped passport I booked flight tickets and started packing my bags.
Conclusion
Although I got rejected twice, it stands true that waiting is worth it as good things take time and surely it will happen if you stop giving up on the things you want

PART – 3 FOLLOW UPS
Who usually takes risks, why?
I don’t think there is any most effective way as learners can personalize their learning experience to their interest. For example, one cost-free way is to learn through different forms of arts like movies and songs – I mean people can choose whatever category they are fond of. Another way would be to actually learn the language used in that culture; this method may take a lot of time but can be very effective.
Why do young people take risks more often than the elderly?
I think it’s quite easy to understand. You know, most old people have gained a lot of things in their life, like properties, family and relationships. No normal person wants to take risk and lose any of those things. And old people aren’t very open to learn from their mistakes, I believe. The young are different: they have nothing to lose, they still have plenty of time left in life so there’s a whole lot for them to learn in case of failure. That’s why they’re willing to take risks, sometimes even a big one.

Why do boys take risks more often than girls?
I think the differences in hormones between the two genders are the underlying reason for risk taking. Besides, personality is also an explanation. While boys are taught to be strong, fearless and tough, girls are expected to be more gentle and calm. Taking risks helps boys show their strength and power and it proves that they will be able to protect their female counterparts. This gives them a rewarding feeling.
What advice should parents give to children to avoid taking risks?
I think to reduce risk-taking, parents should teach their children how to assess risks. Some risks are worth a try, but some are dangerous. But children may not have enough real-life experiences to recognize when to step out of their comfort zone and when they should not. So parents should give some examples of different risks and ask their children to think about the consequences. This helps children learn to consider carefully before taking risks and know which risks that they should avoid.
Should we read about dangerous situations, why?
Certainly. Life is unexpected, you know. We never know when something dangerous is gonna come, so having some preparation is necessary. For instance, there are a lot of drunk drivers out there, and we don’t know when we’re gonna encounter them. So reading some articles or books about these situations can help us, at least, get a picture of how we should react in such a case.
