PART – 1 INTRO

What is your name?

My name is Harcharan Singh.

What do you do for a living?

I work as a Software Engineer with Cognizant. What is the importance of gifts? Well, by giving and receiving gifts not only express the feelings of other person but also consolidate/fortify/ strong the bond between two persons.

Is there any pressure on us to buy presents?

No, I don’t think so there is any pressure on us to buy presents. It just a way to show their love, respect and feelings towards another person.

How often do you buy gifts?

Occasionally, I buy gifts whenever there is any special occasion like marriage, birthday parties that time I adore love to give gifts.

Do you like to send expensive gifts?

Well, it totally depends upon a person to whom I am going to give gift. If the person is really close to my heart then I prefer to give expensive gifts otherwise, I give priority to cheap gifts.

What kinds of gifts are popular in your country?

There is a plethora of gifts which are popular in my nation such as watches, flowers, jewellery, technological gadgets and so on.

Why do people send gifts?

People send gifts just to express the importance of that person to whom they are giving gifts.

Leading a healthy life is a cherished goal for everyone, but many people struggle to achieve that goal and translate it into reality. With the responsibilities and tensions plaguing individuals on a daily basis, it is no wonder that several people stumble to make time for themselves and engage in activities that keep them physically and mentally healthy. In this light, I would like to talk about a health-promoting activity that I undertook which I found extremely beneficial to me and would endorse to anyone looking to find a way to keep themselves fit.

Brisk walking is what I tried and enjoyed as a form of exercise. It is one of the easiest and most gentle forms of aerobic exercise. Anyone can put on their walking shoes and comfortable clothing and just start walking. Brisk walking offers a diverse range of benefits for physical and mental health. It can help people reduce and maintain their body weight, boosts cardiovascular fitness, strengthens bones and keeps muscles supple while also managing a number of health conditions like diabetes, hypertension, and hypothyroidism. Not only that, but it can also help in reducing and managing symptoms of depression and anxiety.

Besides the obvious health benefits, brisk walking also has the added benefit of allowing people to explore places or enjoy nature. I remember I used to particularly look forward to my morning walks because they offered me the opportunity to discover my neighbourhood in a new light and also visit my favourite places and enjoy the splendour of nature in the suffused light of dawn. Additionally, I would also make an effort to incorporate walking into my daily routine by taking the stairs instead of the lift and walking short distances instead of availing a means of transport.

However, when the pandemic started, I could no longer go on walks as I had before. I decided to make the most of the situation by walking around my terrace and when the world started opening up, I resumed going on walks. It has indisputably been advantageous to me and helped me stay fit and healthy and I hope to continue this healthful activity for years to come.

Do you think health is important? Why?

Health is extremely important. Without it we are unable to work, unable to earn a living, unable to socialise and we become completely dependant on others. Health is one of the few things that we can’t buy, but we can take steps to improve and protect our health. By protecting our health, we are protecting our future.

What types of activities do you think help people stay healthy?

There are many kinds of activities that can help us maintain good health. Cardiovascular exercise such as jogging, tennis and football are really beneficial. But many people prefer doing more gentle exercise like yoga or taichi that help us with our physical and mental health. Personally, I think a balanced approach of different types of exercises is best combined with a healthy life style and diet.

What is the difference between physical health and mental health?

Physical health is about our physical bodies: our muscles, our blood circulation, our internal organs and about keeping our immune systems and other bodily systems working well. Mental health, on the other hand, is concerned with how healthy our thoughts are and our perspectives. It affects our ability to cope with situations in life.

What difficulties did some people face with social distancing and lockdown at the time of the Coronavirus outbreak?

I think some people had a lot to cope with during lockdown. Some people struggled with the isolation, some people worried about their income and others struggled with being trapped in a building unable to go out. Most of the problems were psychological, but some also had practical problems. Some people were unable to get to supermarkets due to vulnerability and struggled to get food. It was a really challenging time.
