What is your full name?

My name is Qabu Yabu.

How may I address you?

You may address me as Qabu.

May I see your ID?

Sure, here it is.

How many hours do you sleep every day (or every night)?

Usually I sleep around 7-8 hours every day. But if I have deadlines to meet, I go to bed at odd hours and barely get 4-5 hours of sleep.

Do you think it’s good to have a nap during the day?

Yes. Japanese companies allow their employees to take a power nap and they have proved it to be beneficial.

Do you think old people need more sleep than young people?

I think old people can manage with a minimum amount of sleep. In general, the amount of sleep decreases as you get older. Old people usually take pills to fall asleep. But it also varies from person to person.

Have your sleeping habits changed since you were younger?

Yes, it has changed drastically. When I was young, I used to sleep for 12 hours. But as I grew older, it decreased. Nowadays, it depends on the extent of my exhaustion. Sometimes I do sleep for 9 hours.

Has your voice ever changed?

Yes, it actually changes most often when I come down with serious flu. When I’m sick with a cold or flu, the acute laryngitisleads to my temporaryhoarseness. I think it causes swelling that alters the way my vocal cords vibrate, making me sound deeper and huskier.

SAMPLE ANSWER

There are many interesting places in my home town but here I am going to talk about Haveli. It is on the national highway between Jalandhar & Phagwara. Actually it falls in the suburbs of Phagwara. I like it because of the delicious & quality food, quick & prompt service & a friendly atmosphere. It is always swarming with people & brimming with activity. The food is priced at very nominal rates.

It is a huge place with a seating capacity of about 200 people. The interior is decorated to simulate a traditional Punjabi village scene. Handicrafts adorn the walls which give the place a very ethnic look. The food served is mouth watering & delicious. The restaurant is very clean & hygienic. The waiters are amicable & friendly. There is also a Rangla Punjab section which means the colorful Punjab which has an entry ticket of Rs 300/- and food is included in that ticket. They serve food with traditional Punjabi hospitality.

First they serve butter-milk and then various types of dishes according to the season. In the evenings Punjabi cultural songs & dances are per formed by various artists. There are also camel and horse rides for children. It is a must visit place for one & all. It is so interesting that one can never feel bored there.

PART – 3 FOLLOW UPS

Is the food that people eat today in India different to the food that people used toeat in the past? (If yes, in what ways has it changed?)

Yes, today people eat a lot of fast food. Earlier they ate only traditional food.

Is the food that people in India eat today the same as the food people ate 30 or 50 years ago? Have there been any changes over the past 30 years in the way Indian people eat their meal?

No, the food people eat now is very diverse. Earlier people ate only traditional food, but today, they enjoy food from all over the world. Chinese cheese chilly and Manchurian have become popular, and also people commonly eat the Italian pizza and pasta. Fast food like burger has also become very common. Now, it is also possible to eat off-seasonal fruits and vegetables imported from all over the world. For instance today we enjoy mangoes in winters also, which was not possible earlier.

How do you think the way we eat will change in the future?

What the future holds in store for us no one can tell, but as far as I can see I feel that ready-to-eat food will become more popular. Eating out in the restaurants will also become more popular.

Is American-style ‘fast food’ popular in India? (Why? Popular with whom?)

Yes, American style fast food is very popular especially among the youngsters.
