PART – 1 INTRO PART
What is your full name?
My name is Manraj Partap.
How may I address you?
You may address me as Manraj.
May I see your ID?
Sure, here it is.
What do you do?
I am a teacher. I teach physics at the government higher secondary school in Palakkad.
Were you playing outdoors as a child?
Yes, I was. I used to spend a great deal of time outdoors. I have an elder brother and a younger sister. As soon as we got home from school, we would rush to the backyard. We used to make our own amusements. I still miss those days.
What games were you playing then?
I used to play badminton with my siblings. We had a swing in the garden and I used to spend a lot of time on it. When I was a child I lived in a village. There were several ponds in my village. On Sundays I would go swimming with my brother and cousins. Sometimes we played hide and seek.
Do you allow your children to play outside now?
Yes, I do. We now live in a city. There is a nice park opposite my home. On weekends, I take my kids there and let them play. Our home is built on a small lot and it doesn’t have a play area. So, my kids can play outside only when we take them to a park or to our native place.
PART – 2 CUE CARD
Describe something you do to forget about work or study
You should say:
– What the activity is
– How often you do it
– How it helps you forget
And say whether you would recommend other people try the same thing.
SAMPLE ANSWER
I’d like to talk about horse-riding, which has been my hobby since I was around ten years old. I’m actually the joint owner of a horse with two of my friends and we take turns looking after him, cleaning out the stable and so on. I don’t have a part-time job so I spend most of my weekends at the stable.
Taking care of a horse is quite a dirty business so it’s obviously very different from studying at college. That means I can forget about my classes during the week when I’m at the stable on the weekend. There’s quite a large field next to the stable and I just get a wonderful sense of freedom when I’m riding around on my horse.
College seems a million miles away! Do I think other people would enjoy horse-riding? Yes, absolutely. I think everyone should give it a try. Horses are absolutely wonderful animals, very gentle and intelligent. If you ever have the chance to ride a horse, you should definitely give it a try.
PART – 3 FOLOW UPS
How do most people plan their future education and their future career?
Most people plan their future education and career by talking to their parents, teachers, career counselors and by consulting some people who are already in the same career.
What kinds of personal plans should people make for themselves?
People should make plans about their studies, about their careers, about their married life, about places they want to visit, and about their retirement.
Do you think it is important for a person to have a career plan?
Yes, it is very important for a person to have a career plan. A career plan gives a person something to look forward to. He can then plan his education according to that career plan. Without a plan, any work seems meaningless. So, it is very important to have a plan. Sometimes, a person may change his plan midway, but all the same without a plan taking any step ahead is impossible.
