PART – 1 INTRO PART

What is your full name?

My name is Amarjit Kaur.

How may I address you?

You may address me as Amarjit.

May I see your ID?

Sure, here you go.

Do you like (to learn about) history?

Yes, I am a big fan of reading historical stories. When I was a little boy, I always took the historical books from my father’s bookshelf and read about historical events. I feel that history not only helps me teach, but also gives me a better understanding of human society.

What historical event do you find most interesting?

Personally I am fond of the Battle of Red Cliffs which happened during the early period of the Three Kingdoms. This was a decisive battle at the end of the Han Dynasty. It was also a typical battle in Chinese history renowned for a smaller and weaker army defeating a larger and stronger foe.

Do you think history is important?

Yes, the main factor is that like our native language and our history forms our cultural identity and provides a unique record of our country. We can learn from the experiences of history to correct our current actions.

Do you like to watch programmes on TV about history?

Yes, I enjoy watching documentaries about history on TV because I can see a lot of materials that cannot be seen in the textbooks. I watch them at home during my time off with my son to learn something about history.

Do you think you can really learn history from films and TV programmes?

I don’t feel that watching current TV series can make you more aware of the history. TV programmes are more engaging than books; however, true historical events in most of the TV series have been distorted by the producers to cater for the audience. It’s really a shame, as young people will misunderstand history as presented by these companies.

– Where you do it

– What clothes or equipment you need

– And explain why you like doing it during the winter.

SAMPLE ANSWER

During the winter season, India is a great place to travel. I travel in different parts of the country at this time annually. I think this is the best time to explore my country. The temperature level is under control and thus anyone can travel at any places.

Usually, the summers are hot in India. So, travelling in this period is not suggested at all. You will have some troubles while you are on travel during summer. My past experiences have made me wise and based on the experiences, I have changed my plans. Now I travel around the country in the winter season. I enjoy the trips and also upload the photos on my social networking platforms.

India is a vast land or diversity. The natural beauty of the country is amazing. So, I try to move closer to nature and capture some of their photos. I prefer the rural areas for this purpose. In fact, I have visited many of the rural areas of my country. The natural views of the country are outstanding and charming as well. They look striking particularly in winter.

The sun rays through the mists look wonderful and when you are sitting with a cup of tea, the view becomes unforgettable. There are no specific places for the visit. But I prioritise the rural parts because the places are comfortable to travel than the city areas. The communication system is not developed and it makes the trips interesting for me.

Well, I need some heavy clothes to travel during the winter. Actually, when it is cold in India, the coldness may bring some health disorders for you. If you do not take precautionary measures appropriately, you may be the sufferer of coughs and colds. Besides, I also keep a flask to carry tea or coffee. When I am out for the travel in winter, I also carry some other stuff like a small bag containing my warm clothes, a pair of extra shoes, first aid kit and few necessary medicines. Besides, I also keep a small knife which I use for multipurpose. These are the necessary companions for my travel in winter.

I like to travel in winter for some reasons. Firstly, this is the time when everything becomes calm and quiet. In the other seasons of the years, everything appears chaotic to me. I am unable to bear the chaos that I find everywhere. Further, in winter, nature takes a beautiful shape. It is like a mysterious beauty. To be frank, I am a nature lover. The foggy mornings, faded setting suns in the evening or the bright stars at night – everything appears perfect in this season. So, I like to take the trips inside India during winter.

PART – 3 FOLLOW UPS

What are the seasons that you have in your country but other countries do not?

That’s a difficult question actually and I need to have a sound knowledge of other countries to answer it. Still, with whatever idea I have, I can say that India is much more diverse as there are 4 distinct seasons here unlike many foreign nations. For instance, while the gulf countries witness extreme Summers, the nations in north America and Europe have long and extreme winters.

Is there a seasonal festival in your country?

Yes, we do have many festivals to celebrate seasons. Harvest festivals are also seasonal festivals, celebrating both bounty and the change of seasons. Baisakhi is a festival of spring harvest in April celebrated by both hindus and Sikhs. Then, Basant panchmi is celebrated to welcome spring in the month of February. People dress in yellow to mark flowering of mustard fields. Also, pongal is a harvest festival dedicated to the Sun God. It is celebrated in January in the south of India.
