IELTS SPEAKING FULL INTERVIEW

PART – 1 INTRO PART

What is your full name?

My name is Nanak Singh.

How may I address you?

You may address me as Nanak.

What’s the weather like where you live?

Well, I was born and grew up in a tropical country, so it’s pretty much hot and humid year round. However, in Northern cities, we actually enjoy four distinct seasons. In summery months, it can get really sweltering, and by contrast, temperatures can really dip in winter.

What type of weather do you like best?

I’d consider myself a cold weather person. I love the crisp mornings at the end of fall and the chill of winter. Maybe it’s because we have to bundle up as the weather turns cold, and I love wearing sweaters and overcoats.

Does the weather ever affect what you do?

You know, I gotta say yes, especially when it rains. I mean, I cannot go out and run my errands if it’s pouring outside. The roads get really slippery, so it’s quite dangerous to drive. Besides, you will definitely be soaked if you do decide to go out.

Does it rain a lot in your hometown?

Well, it depends on the season. In winter and spring, there is a dearth of rain associated with the arid weather. In contrast, it is usually raining cats and dogs in summer and august, causing loads of troubles for people travelling on the road.

Does rain ever affect transportation in your hometown?

Yeah, of course. Traffic is often held up when it rains. All the roads are clogged, and people find it difficult to escape from traffic congestion. I would stay at home and watch TV rather than going out and being caught up in traffic.

Have you ever been to any island?

Yes, I have! Actually, I lived on an island for 3 months back in 2016. My mother was offered to work at a resort for 2 years, so I joined them there for 3 months. Island life was quite an interesting experience!

Are there any islands in your country?

Yes, there are. There is one famous island called X, famed for its crystal clear water and white sands. I’ve heard the pagodas are very interesting to visit there, as well. I haven’t been yet, but I dream of going there for a girls getaway (when women go on a trip together) sometime in the future.

Do you want to live on an island if you have a chance?

Not really. Islands are beautiful, but I felt really isolated (separated from others) when I lived on one before. As I’m an active person, I felt there wasn’t much to do. Sure, the beach is great, but it gets boring day after day.

What do you like to do when you are on an island?

Beach of course! Behind that, I like getting to know the local culture and food. I especially enjoy drinking coconut water fresh off the palm trees and trying local fish recipes. Moreover, I enjoy getting hair braided (hairstyle) by local people.

PART – 2 CUE CARD

Describe an unpopular opinion you hold or have.

You should say:

what it is

for how long you have this opinion in your mind

whether you have ever shared it to someone

SAMPLE ANSWER

I am not exactly an opinionated person who likes to impose his views or opinion on others. But, there are some issues and opinions, which I feel really strongly about from time to time. Today, I would like to talk about one such opinion which is considered to be very unpopular by many.

This unpopular opinion involves imposing more than 100% vat or sales tax on all kinds of tobacco products/cigarettes and banning public smoking altogether, if possible. I have held this opinion for more than a decade, after witnessing the death of one of my dear uncles, but I started to feel even more strongly about all kinds of smoking in the recent years after learning about its negative effects on our health and environments .

In fact, Smoking can cause fatal diseases such as pneumonia, emphysema and lung cancer. Smoking causes 84% of deaths from lung cancer and 83% of deaths from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). And, I am not even talking about the more regular negative health effects like cough, cold, wheezing and asthma.

On top of that, the negative effects of smoking on our environments are just immeasurable, given the fact that trillions of cigarettes filters/butts, made of a form of cellulose acetate plastic, are tossed out every year worldwide which takes about a decade to decompose and then getting absorbed by the soil.

And, because of this long process to recycle these plastic matters back to the soil, it slowly and slowly loses its fertility and natural characteristics to liven our earth. By the way, I have alreDo you think adults often have more opinions than older ones?

Well, according to my point of view, older persons have more opinions than mature persons because they have different types of experiences. Also, senior citizens have faced many ups and downs in their entire life. They can know or solve a complication in a better way. However, adults solve their problems through their own smart ideas and opinions.

Anyway, I think that this is an unpopular opinion, mainly because the businessmen, who are involved with the business of manufacturing and selling tobacco products, are vehemently opposing this idea because that would make them lose their business and money. Besides, some chain smokers would simply never let go of their habit of smoking because they are just too addicted to this deadly habit.

PART – 3 FOLLOW UPS

Do your parents have interesting ideas or opinions?

Yes, of course, they have. In actuality, my father is a retired army officer and my mother is a fashion designer. So, they both are well-educated and able to provide good opinions or ideas to others.

Is it beneficial to get advice from a person who have good opinions?

Yes definitely it is fruitful because such the advice are proved like a boon for us. Through it, we can solve our problem in easy way. Also, we can consider both aspects negative and positive, of a thing by getting advice from a wise person.

Can we solve real-life problems?

According to me, smart and intelligent people are good at solving real-life problems. Moreover, real-life troubles are different as compared to textbook stories, movie because in this we know about answer and solutions. For example: In mathematics book, we know how to solve the problems as well as, in these answers also provided at the end of the book. But, in real life, it is not possible. In the real world, all situation and conditions are not the same but, when the trouble is the same then, time, place, people and situations are different.
