IELTS SPEAKING FULL INTERVIEW

PART – 1 INTRO PART

What is your full name?

My name is Adam Smith.

How may I address you?

You may address me as Adam.

May I see your ID?

Sure, here you go.

Let’s talk about fashion…

Do you care about fashion?

I used to in my younger days, I remember always looking to see what my favourite musicians were wearing and then try to copy them, but now that I’m older I don’t really care as long as I look smart.

What kind of things do you normally wear?

It depends what I’m doing really. If I’m working I always wear a dress shirt and trousers, but we don’t have to wear a tie. If I’m going out it will be more casual like a polo shirt and jeans and if I’m at home it will be really relaxed, just a t-shirt and shorts.

Are there any traditional clothes in your country?

I have no idea. There might be but I can’t recall ever hearing anyone talking about them or seeing someone wearing them.

Where do you usually purchase your clothes?

I used to go to the trendy shops when I was a student, but now I’m older and have little time I just like to go to a big shopping centre or department store and buy everything there. It’s more convenient that way and it means I don’t have to run all over town just for a few clothes.

Have you ever bought clothes online?

No, because I don’t trust their clothes to always fit me. I know a few people who order lots of clothes online and order a few different sizes and then send the ones that don’t fit them back, but I can’t be bothered with all that. It’s much quicker to go into a proper shop and try the clothes on there and make sure they are a proper fit.

Do people from your country think fashion is important?

More so these days. Our country wouldn’t be very high on the list of international fashion hot spots, but I notice people following certain trends more. Last year, there was a red trouser craze and everywhere you looked people had red trousers on.

What is your favourite item of clothing?

Probably my leather jacket. It cost a fortune and it makes me feel really confident when I go out in it. I normally get a few compliments also because it is quite slimming.

SAMPLE ANSWER

India has a reputation of being rich with historical places and monument scattered across her length and breadth, because this land has supported many civilization, races, and religions through time.

Here, I would like to talk about one of the seven wonder of the world, the TajMahal. I visited this place two ago year with my family. Located in the north of India, in Agra city, the TajMahal is well-known as a symbol of love. It was built during the reign of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, in loving memory of his beautiful wife Mumtaj. This monument is a masterpiece of art and architecture. It is a mausoleum built on the tomb of Queen Mumtaj on the bank of Yamuna. Made up entirely of white marble, its ceiling has a big dome on the centre, under which tomb is situated.

The tomb is surrounded by pillars of white marble decorated with amazing artwork. In the evening we can see dancing fountains with multicoluored light. This arrangement further enhances the beauty of the place. The splendor of this place cannot be describe in words because the greatness of this monument surpasses language. It can only be experienced by visiting. I was thrilled by the vibes inside the TajMahal. They are astonishing, even though the construction is almost 400 year old.

It took more 20 years for thousands of workers and craftsmen to complete the structure. In my opinion, the TajMahal is the best monument in the world that symbolizes both, art and love.

PART – 3 FOLLOW UPS

What is the history linked to that placed/monument?

This monument was built in the loving memory of Queen MumtajMahal. There are some other interesting facts related to the TajMahal, too, apart from the movie behind its construction. What stands out is that is look 22 years’ time to complete the construction of the TajMahal, in around 1648 AD. It was constructed entirely using white marble, and this heavy weight material was carried from about 180 miles away, to the construction spot, with the help of around one thousand elephants.

It is said that more than twenty thousand workers used their skills to build this masterpiece, and after its complete, the awe-struck Emperor Shah Jahan ordered the hands of all the artisans to be chopped off, so that such a monument could never be constructed again. It is also estimated that if the same monument were built today, it would cost billions of dollars.

How important are historical places/monuments in our life?

Historical places are very important in our life. They are legacies of our past, which can be passed down to the future generations, along with the great stories they hold. We can study the history of the world better with help of such monuments. We can also learn about the lifestyles, cultures, religions, and traditions of the past.

What are the threats posed to historical places/monuments, today?

The first threat is pollution. Both air and water pollution affects the appearance and structure of historical monuments. For example, a few years back, I read in a newspaper that the TajMahal is turning off-white in colour because of the air pollution caused by the nearby industries. The second threat is the visitors themselves. Visitors often do not maintain discipline, and they either misuse such places or damage them. Lastly, an emerging danger is terrorism. Terrorists target historical monuments for various reasons; case in point being, how a few years back, and terrorists in Afghanistan Destroyed large status of Buddha, masterpiece of Buddhist art, and text on history, and spirituality, in a fundamentalist, fanatic outburst.

What should governments/individuals do to protect such place from pollution?

Government should impose strict rules for preventing pollution-related damage to historical places. They should also install security measures to protect such places from vandalism by visitors and antisocial elements. Simultaneously, individuals can behave responsibly when they visit historical places. They should not damage any features of monuments, and should also maintain cleanliness in the area, by using dustbins, and not littering.
