PART – 2 CUE CARD

Describe your favourite bird.

You should say

– The name of the bird

– Where and when you get to see it

– Why you like it

– What is unique about this bird?

SAMPLE ANSWER

Birds are a beautiful creation of nature. They are helpful to us in many ways. It is difficult to pick one favourite bird, but here, I would like to speak about the national bird of my country – the peacock.

I like the peacock because it is one of the most beautiful birds found in my country. It is a large multi colouredbird that cannot fly very high in the sky, and it can only jump a few meters above the ground, owing to its body mass. It is found in every part of the country, but it prefers to stay in remote areas. In cities, peacocks are often found in open grounds, gardens, and farms, where human interface is minimal.

Peacocks live on insects, flowers, and fruits. They have a beautiful bunch of tail feathers, which make them extremely unique. Peacock feathers are beautiful, and also considered holy as per Hindu mythology, because Lord Krishna believed to have adorned his crown with a peacock feather. The peacock also has a crown on its head, because of which it has been labelled ‘the king of bird’. In addition, we can also find white peacocks in parts of my country.

White peacocks look even more gorgeous, and stunningly attractive. In the monsoon season, peacocks dance in the rain and spread out their tail feathers to attract peahens (female peacock that don’t have tail feather like their male counterparts). This sigh of the dancing peacock is wonderful scene to watch. Peacocks also have a melodious that they use to call out their group. This sound is heard most during sunrise and sunset.

PART – 3 FOLLOW UPS

Is bird watching a useful activity, or a waste of time?

Bird watching is a fascinating activity those who are interested. But, I admit, it is a waste of time for most people. However, we should be thankful to birdwatchers for providing us with amazing information, interesting trivia, and documentaries on birds so that we may be able to learn more about these beautiful creations of nature without actually going out on field to observe them first hand.

Do birds give any massage?

Birds give us the massage of enjoying our lives to the fullest, by living in the present. Most birds are always active and playful. They give us the same massage of being diligent, while still remaining playful and stress free. This is why, when see any bird engaged in its natural activities, we feel refreshed and relaxed.

Should we eat bird meat? (OR) Should be consume bird products?

I am against the use of all bird products. We must avoid using such products as much as possible because we have no right to kill any bird to satisfy our needs. However, some people justify this as essential in some regions, where vegetarian food sources are in short supply. I think we should always think about the survival rights of bird products, to introduce some novelty in their routine lives. I assert that such killing of birds should be banned.
