IELTS GENERAL WRITING TASK 1
IELTS GENERAL WRITING TASK 1
You have just received a credit card statement from your bank. The statement lists a number of expensive purchases that you are sure you did not make.
Write a letter to the bank manager. In the letter:
• Introduce yourself.
• Explain that you did not buy the items listed.
• Say what you would like the bank to do to fix the problem.
SAMPLE ANSWER
Dear Sir,
I am Jane Edison, a loyal customer of your bank for the past three years. I am penning down this letter to complain about the recent transactions of purchasing expensive mobile phones using my credit cards, internationally.
Firstly, I would like to bring it to your notice that I reside in St Brookes street, Newyork and I have never been out of the country since 2016. I recently got the latest model of iPhone-SX from my manager as a parting gift. Whereas, this transaction took place on a Point of sales machine, at a mall in Paris and hence it is impossible that I would have done it. Secondly, looking at the bank statements for the month of April, I could confirm that the amount withdrawn was in euros. Thereby I am assuming this as a fraudulent transaction done by a random person internationally, also that the person has hacked my card.
I request your sincere efforts to immediately block my credit card in order to prevent any further intervention from the outsiders. I am attaching a copy of my passport and bank statements for your reference.
Looking forward to hearing back from you.
Sincerely,
Jane
