You need a recommendation letter from your former university teacher. Write a letter to your teacher: • Give him the reasons for asking for the recommendation letter.

• Give him/her details about your personal and academic background that can be added to your letter.

• Tell him/ her about your future plans

SAMPLE ANSWER

Dear Mr. Yousri,

I hope that you and your family are fine. I am Tarek Emad, one your prior students, in the group of structural design in 2011. I will be thankful if you can provide me with a reference letter, whereas it is required to apply for a master’s degree at Heriot-Watt University.

As you know, it is complicated to get a promotion regularly unless I could prove that I am able to improve my skills. Therefore, I have been overloading my knowledge with practical experience since I have graduated. While I had had a profound awareness of all techniques in the field, I decided to enhance my path with an academic degree. Moreover, I have to choose 10 subjects among 15 ones, so I need your help to pick the ideal topics that will help me in the field. I will send the list of available curriculums.

I wish to send the recommendation letter before 10 August because it is the deadline for all applications.
