IELTS GENERAL WRITING TASK 1

You have decided to resign from your work in order to try a new field.

Write a letter of resignation to your boss.

In your letter:

– tell your boss of your decision and explain why you are leaving

– explain what you have learnt from your current job and how you feel about leaving

– ask for a letter of reference

SAMPLE ANSWER

Dear Mr John,

I’m writing to let you know that I have decided to quit my job. Despite the fact that this career has provided me with exceptional experience and skills, I believe that it is the right time to move forward and start a new journey at my career level.

Let me explain further. Working at this reputable company was the reason behind my success and achievements. eventually, I was able to develop essential leadership skills through the unit-in-charge position that I have handled for several years. Also, at the level of communication, I was able to enhance my communication skills by interacting with others at the organization.

Would you kindly send me a letter of recommendation as it is compulsory for applying for a new job? It should include my relevant experience and roles throughout this period, besides my exceptional skills.
