GENERAL WRITING TASK 1:-
GENERAL WRITING TASK 1:-
You live in a room in college which you share with another student. However, there are many problems with this arrangement and you find it very difficult t work. Write a letter to the accommodation officer at the college.
In your letter
– describe the situation
– explain your problems and why it is difficult to work,
– say what kind of accommodation you would prefer.
SAMPLE ANSWER:-
Dear Sir,
My name is Chales Xavier and I am student of political Science currently in my sophomore year. I stay on the college premises at the Kelley Hall, and I wanted to discuss a problem I am facing with my accommodation.
As you are aware, two students share each room at the Hall. Last year my roommate was a student from my class, and we had similar timings and routines. This year, however, my roommate is Peter, a student of the music school. Peter is a guitarist, and he often plays the guitar at odd times, which is a massive hindrance in my sleep.
The coursework for my program is extremely intense and I often study late night into the night. Then, when it is finally time to sleep, Peter starts to play the guitar. This is really affecting my performance in my class.
I request you to please change my accommodation, and put me up with a student from my course or someone who is pursuing a similar course.
I look forward to a quick and favourable resolution to my problem.
