IELTS GENERAL WRTING TASK 1

There is a public event coming up in your town. Write a letter to your friend who you think would be interested to take part in it.

In your letter, you should:

– describe the event

– say why you think he/she would be interested suggest an arrangement to meet there with him/he.

SAMPLE ANSWER

Hi Jimmy,

I’m writing to tell you that there will be a public picnic in Kings Park this Sunday. In the morning there will be a chess contest, degustation of jams and live music. Also, It says that at night there will be a Ukrainian movie in the open sky, I hope you didn’t forget our movie nights.

Anyway everyone is welcome to take part. I thought we could play the guitar and sit around a fire while our kids could have fun together. The leader of the event is my colleague and I could ask him to include our performance in the program.

I’m gonna bring my wife and the boys. For the food, I’m gonna bring some beer and snacks, so don’t worry about that. Sarah won’t drink so she could drop us off on the way back. I haven’t seen you for ages and wish to see you Marry and the boys there.
