You are applying for a job and need a letter of reference from someone who knew you when you were at school. Write a letter to one of your old teachers asking for a reference. In your letter:

-say what job you have applied for

-explain why you want this job

-suggest what information the teacher should include

SAMPLE ANSWER

Dear Mr. Thompson,

I hope you are doing well. I am writing to request a letter of reference from you, as I have recently applied for the position of Marketing Assistant at BrightWave Communications.

I am very interested in this job because it offers an excellent opportunity to use my creativity and communication skills while working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The company is well-known for its innovative campaigns, and I believe this role will help me grow professionally.

It would be greatly appreciated if you could mention my strong organizational abilities, teamwork, and active participation in school events, such as the annual debate competition and marketing club projects. Your reference would add great value to my application.
