IELTS GENERAL WRITING TASK 1

Your neighbour has started major renovation work that is disturbing your daily life.

Write a letter to your neighbour. In your letter:

– Describe the noise and how it affects you

– Explain your concerns

– Suggest a solution or request a compromise

SAMPLE ANSWER

Dear Mr. Sharma,

I hope you’re well. I’m writing regarding the ongoing renovation work at your property. While I understand home improvements are necessary, the constant drilling and hammering, especially during early mornings and late evenings, have been quite disruptive.

As I work from home, it’s become extremely difficult to concentrate during the day. Additionally, my elderly mother finds the noise distressing, and it often disturbs her rest.

I completely respect your right to renovate, but I kindly request that the loudest work be limited to standard hours, say between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. This would help reduce the impact on our daily routine.
