IELTS GENERAL WRITING TASK 1

You would like to volunteer a few hours a week to help an organization that support homeless people in your area. Write a letter to the organization.

In your letter.

– Explain why you want to volunteer for the organization

– Describe some skill or experience you have that could be useful

– Suggest you availability and starting date.

SAMPLE ANSWER

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to express my interest in volunteering with your organization, which supports homeless individuals in our community.

I have always believed in giving back to society, and helping those in need is something I feel passionate about. Your organization’s work has inspired me, and I would like to contribute a few hours each week to support your efforts.

I have previous experience volunteering at a community kitchen, where I assisted with meal preparation and distribution. In addition, I have good communication skills and am comfortable interacting with people from diverse backgrounds. I believe these skills would be beneficial in engaging with and supporting homeless individuals.

I am available on weekday evenings and Saturday mornings, and I would be happy to start volunteering from next week, preferably from the 5th of May.
