IELTS GENERAL WRITING TASK 1

You have seen an advertisement from a couple, who live in Australia, for someone to teach their two children your language for a year. Write a letter to the couple. In your letter explain

– why you think you would be suitable for the job,

– say what else you could do for the family,

– and give your reasons for wanting the job.

SAMPLE ANSWER

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Thompson,

I am writing in response to your advertisement seeking someone to teach your children my native language, Hindi, for a year. With a degree in education and over five years of experience teaching Hindi to children of various ages, I believe I would be an excellent fit for this role.

In addition to language instruction, I would be happy to assist with light household chores, help the children with their homework, and even introduce them to Indian culture through stories, music, and cooking.

I am very interested in this opportunity as it allows me to share my language and culture while experiencing life in Australia. I also enjoy working with children and find it deeply rewarding to contribute to their development in a meaningful way.

Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the possibility of joining your family.
