IELTS GENERAL WRITING TASK 1

Your friend is coming to stay in your neighbourhood. He has asked some information about the local school. Write a letter to your friend. In your letter:

– Describe the school

– Tell him/her about your opinion

– Explain why his/her children would like this school.

SAMPLE ANSWER

Dear [Friend’s Name],

I’m so happy to hear that you’ll be moving into our neighbourhood soon! Regarding the local school, I’d be glad to share some details.

The school here is called Greenwood International School. It’s a well-known institution with a strong academic record and excellent facilities. The campus is spacious, with a large playground, modern science and computer labs, and a well-stocked library. The teachers are experienced and friendly, and they focus not only on academics but also on extracurricular activities.

In my opinion, it’s one of the best schools in the area. Many of our neighbours send their children there, and they’ve seen great progress in both learning and confidence.

I’m sure your kids will enjoy it here. The environment is welcoming, and there are plenty of clubs and sports teams for them to join. It’s a great place for them to learn and grow.
