IELTS GENERAL WRITING TASK 1

You have noticed some students from your college engaging in a dangerous activity outside the college grounds. Write a letter to the principal of your college. In your letter, you should:

– explain what the students were doing

– describe why this activity is dangerous

– suggest what the college can do to address the situation

SAMPLE ANSWER

Dear Principal,

I hope you are doing well. I am writing to bring to your attention a concerning activity involving some students from our college outside the college grounds.

Recently, I observed a group of students engaging in Illegal Street racing on the main road near the campus. They were riding motorbikes at high speeds, often without helmets, and performing risky stunts. This reckless behavior not only puts their lives in danger but also endangers pedestrians and other drivers.

This activity is highly dangerous as it could result in severe accidents, injuries, or even fatalities. Additionally, it gives a negative impression of our college in the community.

To address this issue, I suggest the college conduct awareness sessions on road safety and discipline. Furthermore, increased monitoring and stricter penalties for such behavior could help deter students from engaging in such risky activities.
