Your friend has been offered a place on a course at the university where you studied. He/She would like your advice about finding a place to live. Write an email to your friend. In your email

• describe where you lived when you were a student at the university

• recommend the best way for him/her to look for accommodation

• warn him/her of mistakes students make when choosing accommodation

SAMPLE ANSWER

Dear Anjali,

It was such joyful news to hear about your admission to the same university where I completed my studies.

To begin with, last year when I moved here to Canada that time I contacted one of my childhood friends, who helped me in my initial days with accommodation. However, he was living far away from my university, so I changed my permanent address to quite near to the college, where I have been living since October 2023.

In addition, you should follow some robust strategies to look for your living space. Firstly, social media is the most convenient option, rather than finding into in person. Secondly, you can try to connect with the reception desk at your university, where you can get some resources. I personally prefer you to go for online applications.

Despite these, I would like to warn you to not make some silly mistakes, such as you don’t have to pay your rent without checking the proper property. Moreover, be aware and carefully read your living agreement before signing it.
