IELTS GENERAL WRITING TASK 1

You work for a small company and you need some advertising materials. Write a letter to a company that sells advertising materials.

In your letter you should say:

– who you are and which company you work for

– how you discovered their company

– what advertising materials you need.

SAMPLE ANSWER

Dear Mrs. J,

I am in charge of advertising for a small company in Wigglesworth named ‘Park Entertainments’. We operate three gastropubs in the area. We are currently looking for a company to provide us with some advertising materials to use at our locations. A friend told me about your company and I thought I would write to you to see if you can provide us with what we need.

First of all, we need some glasses that we can use at our branches. These glasses must have our logo on them. Then, we need some t-shirts for our staff and some additional ones that we can give away to clients. Finally, we would like to have some napkins for use in our restaurant areas, with our logo.

If you could let me know as soon as possible whether you can get produce these items for us and at what prices, I would be most grateful. Naturally, we anticipate using the same supplier in the future and we have a preference for ordering locally wherever possible.
