IELTS GENERAL WRITING TASK 1

You were travelling via domestic flight to a place outside your home town. But when you reached your place of stay, you found that you forgot your travel bag in the airport. Write a letter to the airport authority regarding this and in your letter,

– Say why you are writing

– How you lost your bag

– What action you are requesting from authority

SAMPLE ANSWER

Dear Sir/Mam,

I am writing this letter to file a complaint about my suitcase that I lost in the flight during my travel.

Last Sunday night at around 10 O’clock, I was travelling by Air India from Bangalore to Delhi. I was carrying a laptop bag in my hand while my suitcase was kept under my seat no. A101. The flight had an unexpected stay for around 1 hour, so I slept as I was already tired enough due to hectic schedule for the whole day.

When I woke up, I saw the flight had reached London and sub-consciously, I left the plane with my laptop and forgetting my suitcase there. This suitcase is actually a trolley bag and black in colour with brand name “VIP” printed at its left top corner. In addition to this, it contains some of my official documents such as two blue and two green colored files along with a “Parker” pen.

I request you to please take action on my complaint and help in recovering back my suitcase as soon as possible.
