GENERAL WRITING TASK 1:-
You recently traveled on a train which arrived very late causing you to miss an appointment.
Write a letter to the train company.
In your letter,
– explain what caused the delay in the journey
– tell them what happened because of the delay
– ask them for a refund
SAMPLE ANSWER:-
Dear Sir or Madam,
Last Thursday I was very late for an appointment because the train I was on board was very delayed at the station. It was late because there was a truck stuck over the line at a level crossing and the train could not go.
Well, I understand that there was a risky situation but it was an hour before the police car came to see what happened. All the people on the train were angry and shouting. Nobody could move the truck over the lines. However, after one hour, another truck came to move the first one which pulled it over the lines but everyone was late and worried.
For me it was awful. I had an appointment for an interview at a job and I was very late. The man at the company had gone somewhere when I got to the company. I explained to them about what happened and they were spry and I have another appointment for me so now I’m going back again.
I’m writing to ask for a refund because I have to do this journey again. I hope you understand.
