Memo to all staff
Staff are prohibited from driving and using their phones
As we, your employer, can be liable for any accidents that occur while an employee is using the phone and driving during working hours, it is now company policy that this practice be prohibited. This includes bluetooth and hands-free modes.
When working, driving is already one of the most dangerous activities you can do. If you add phone use to that, the risks are amplified. You are four times more likely to have an accident if you are using your phone. We want to keep our employees safe. That is why we strongly suggest that phones be completely turned off while you are driving company cars so you are not distracted by ring tones and incoming messages. The ban also includes looking at text messages and online maps and any other activity the phone is used for. Even if you use hands-free mode, it is still very dangerous. More dangerous than talking to someone who is in the car.

We understand that many of our employees use their car as an on-the-road office. Often when visiting customers, the car is the best place for preparing documents and it offers privacy for phone calls. Once a car is parked and switched off and your hands are no longer on the wheel, it is permissible to use your mobile phone.
Police are able to check if phones were in use at the time of an accident. As driving while using a phone is a driving violation according to law, you and the company would have to pay any damages if an accident occurred, as the insurance would no longer cover the costs. Because of this, use of the phone while you are driving a company car will be grounds for suspension or even dismissal. HR will be in touch with all employees who have a company car to have them sign the changes to their work agreements with the company, and the company handbook is being updated.

Rules of the Bakery
Notice to all Employees
Since the onset of Covid-19 we have had to introduce additional sanitation rules to employees of this bakery. Here is list, which combines new regulations with the old rules. As we are an essential service, we did not have to shut down, but we have had to introduce some extra precautions.
In the past, all employees in the factory had to cover their hair with disposable caps, wear clean aprons and elasticised shoe covers. All these precautions remain, with the addition of face masks and disposable gloves. This equipment will be supplied by the company, as it always has, and it is to be found in boxes next to the door in the staff room.

Gloves must be changed numerous times during the day:
– after going to the bathroom
– after handling raw animal products (including dairy products and eggs)
– when moving on to prepare a new product (e.g., a different type of bread)
– We estimate that you will need to change your gloves up to 20 times a day. Please make sure they are placed in the rubbish bins specifically labelled ‘gloves’. There will be boxes of fresh gloves available throughout the factory so you do not need to return to the staff room.

Personal hygiene is essential. All workers must wear clean clothes and regularly wash their hands throughout the day. If you feel ill, please advise HR immediately and go home. We may ask you to be tested for Covid-19 before you return, depending on your symptoms. After each stage of food preparation all benches are to be scraped clean of flour, wiped down with soapy water, wiped with water to remove the soap, and dried with disposable kitchen paper. Soap sprays are available throughout the factory for this purpose. It is important that soap residue be completely removed from the benches before you start work again. Otherwise there is the risk of the bakery products tasting of soap.
We hope you follow all of these rules to the letter. They not only protect the foods that are produced by the bakery, but also employees.
