Landing The Best Job For YOU!
We all know that there are a ton of jobs on the market, including new areas that didn’t exist even five years ago. With this being said, it can be extremely confusing for job seekers to settle down on one career path, let alone find the ideal job for their skill sets. There are various aspects you should be thinking about as you search for your perfect job.
What Are You Passionate About?
This is the first thing you should be asking yourself when looking for a new job. Funnily enough, most people do not know the answer to this question! You might have a wide range of experience and skills, but try to decide what you really want to do with your life. What are you interested in? Recent studies have shown that those who enjoy their work are generally happier, healthier, and wealthier than those who work solely for the income alone. This is why we suggest putting time aside for deep soul-searching and thinking about your passions. It might even help if you try to get advice from those closest to you.
Look for Opportunities
These days, it’s best to check out the Internet for offerings and job listings, which is why we believe looking online is the best way to start looking for open positions. However, word of mouth and community bulletin boards might also be a great place to find open positions. Have you thought about volunteering? Even though income is not attached to volunteering, it could still provide useful experience working on a team and mastering time-management skills. Remember: you can use many different types of experiences on your resume, which brings us to our next point…
Update Your Resume
You might be surprised as to how many people are still using old resumes when applying for jobs! Perhaps the most important aspect to consider is the length of your resume. They should not be too long–just under two pages will suffice. Be sure to include only the most relevant information, including your personal details and your most recent education and professional experiences. With every resume, be sure to include a detailed and specific cover letter. Based on our research, fifty percent of job applicants do not include a cover letter with their resumes. This is a huge mistake! These letters should grab the attention of your reader and make them want to call you for an interview.
Interviewing Like a Pro
If you are lucky enough to be called in for an interview, make sure that you are well-prepared for the challenge ahead. Before you step foot into the company’s office, be sure to learn more about the company and develop questions that you can ask your interviewer. Why? This will showcase your preparation and interest. All of this preparation, paired with cool confidence, will help present your best self on interview day!
Try, Try, Try
It’s important to remember that these steps are not fool-proof, meaning that you may fail and be forced to try your hand at a different job. Don’t stress yourself out too much over this–it’s all part of the process and almost every professional has been through it. If you do not get the job you want, try seeing a career counselor for advice. All in all, be sure to be optimistic, persistent, and follow your passions!

What To Do In The Case of Emergency
Workplace Code of Conduct on Emergency Systems
As per recent government regulations, each workplace in the United States has a legal requirement to have an emergency system in place. This system should be used in the case of fire and other emergencies that may arise. The plan must also be approved by the City Controller in the community. An organized and efficient response is expected by managers and those in control of workplaces.
These requirements have been put forth from the Health and Safety Act 1990, and require that building owners ensure that a risk-free environment is provided for workers and occupants. Going along with this duty is the requirement that fire safety systems are installed and maintained to manufacturer specifications. Additionally, each manager should also keep records of various testing activities.
Moreover, an emergency plan for evacuation must be drafted and practiced through various “drills”, held throughout the year. Firstly, the person compiling the emergency plan must be trained to do so, having undergone extensive training with the Security Department. The plan must be written in English and must identify the roles and responsibilities of various people in the office. This code must be displayed in an easily accessible part of the office or factory.
Finally, there must be an Emergency Planning Committee put in place. The Committee should be comprised of at least two managers and three employees. The Chief Warden is the most essential role, since this person will be responsible for various areas including compiling a list of employees, ensuring building occupants are aware of evacuation procedures, and carrying out inspections every three months.
