Wills Watson Company Newsletter – Summer Edition

Wills Watson Inc. Interns Make a Splash

Wills Watson Inc.’s Media Representative, Bill Rodgers, recently touched base with four interns from the company’s Summer Outreach Program. His article highlights the motivations and experiences of these interns.

The Finance Department hosted Myra Roberts, a university senior who shadowed the Event Budget Planners. However, most of the staff were shocked to learn that she was still a student! “Myra displayed an impressive amount of professionalism and dedication to the job. We are all sad to see her go and hope that she will consider returning to Wills Watson once she graduates!”, exclaimed Ms. Roberts’ manager, Tyra Smith. Indeed, Ms. Roberts’ professionalism earned her a spot at the company’s annual Summer Gala. “I have learned incredible lessons throughout my summer of interning, and it’s more than I could have ever learned during a lecture at university!”, says Myra Roberts.

Nancy Golden, the Communications Department’s summer intern, was also a force to be reckoned with. “Ms. Golden should be proud to have been hired for full-time work after the Summer Internship came to an end,”states her direct supervisor, Bill Griffith. A recent graduate of Monroe University, Ms. Golden will begin her career with Wills Watson Inc. and credits the internship program for her initial success. “I am thrilled to have accepted the position of Communications Assistant with the company, and I cannot wait to further my career with Wills Watson.”

Despite being just a rising second-year student at university, Marilyn Monzo completed her second internship with Wills Watson in the Engineering Department. “We were pleased to have Ms. Monzo with us for a second summer,” said Chief Engineer Brian Kulk, “we hope that she will come back next year for a third time!”. Ms. Monzo will continue her Engineering studies at Tuloon University this Fall.

Lastly, Sharon Sullivan completed her on-the-job training component for her Senior Capstone Project this summer. “Working in the Human Resources Department taught me the necessary job shadowing skills that were not possible to attain in a classroom”. Her experiences, detailed in the Senior Capstone Project, will be published in the Tuloon University Fall Magazine.
