The chart below gives information about the number of pet owners from World Pet Organisation.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
SAMPLE ANSWER
The chart displays the total number of pet owners in six countries over an eight-year period, as well as the proportion of the total that each country comprised in each year.
Generally speaking, while there were more households with pets at the end of the period than the beginning, the number fluctuated throughout; although the most stable populations appear to exist in Scotland and England, the remaining countries experience more significant changes.
The total number of pet owners was just below 800,000 at the start of the period, and was only lower than this in 1995. The total fell below 800,000 only one more time, in 1997. The number peaked at over 900,000 in 1994, but the remaining four years were each somewhere between 800,000 and 900,000.
The smallest number of pet owners was in Ireland, although in some years America and Canada’s population of people with domesticated animals dropped to similar levels. The largest number was most frequently seen in Scotland and England throughout the period, although some countries intermittently exceeded them.
