The given pie charts compare the expenses on 6 different categories in 1988 and 2008 by Canadian citizens.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

The pie charts reveal the information about expenses on 6 items by natives of Canada. The years under consideration are 1988 and 2008.
It can be clearly seen from the pie charts that in 1988, the expenditure on food was the highest that accounted for 45%. It was followed by petrol with 15.75%. the expenditure on cars was little more than 11% while on furniture and books was the same, whereas on Restaurants was 8%.
After 2 decades, money expended on food fell drastically to almost a quarter while on cars skyrocketed to almost 4 times. Similarly, expenditure on restaurants became double and on petrol fell to one-fifth. Lastly, there was no change in the expenditure on books while on furniture it became half.
Overall, it is apparent that preference for food reduced while cars increased in 20 years.
