ACADEMIC WRITING TASK 1
The pie charts below show electricity generation by different sources in Canada and Australia in 1990 and projected figures of 2020.

SAMPLE ANSWER
The pie charts represent the information about production of electricity by different sources. The given countries seen from the pie chart that is Canada and Australia, and the year’s under consideration are 1990 and 2020.
It can be clearly seen from the pie charts that in Canada, in 1990 , electricity production was 138 units out of which production by coal was highest that accounted for 60 units. It was followed by natural gas and nuclear with equal units. In 2020, it is anticipated that the electricity production would increase to 250 units and generation but coal would skyrocket to 3 times while the production by petroleum would decrease to negligible.
Further, in Australia, in 1990, the electricity production was 120 units where production by hydro was the lowest that was 13 units whereas by other sources ranged between 29 and 30 units. In the next 30 years, the electricity production would become double and production by nuclear would elevate drastically to 170 units.
Overall, it is apparent that electricity production by Canada was and would be more than Australia.
