The line graph illustrates the population trends of four types of turtles in India from 1980 to 2012, with 1980 serving as the baseline index of 100.

Overall, the Olive Ridley turtle population experienced a significant increase over the 32-year period, while the Leatherback turtle population steadily declined. The total turtle population (all species) remained relatively stable with a slight upward trend, whereas the Green turtle population fluctuated but showed a modest decline by the end of the period.
In 1980, the population index of all species was set at 100, serving as a reference point. By 2012, the Olive Ridley turtles had shown the most substantial growth, peaking at an index of approximately 120. Similarly, the total population of all species increased moderately, reaching around 110 by the end of the period.

In contrast, the Leatherback turtle population exhibited a continuous decline. Starting at 100 in 1980, it gradually fell to just under 60 by 2012, making it the species with the most dramatic decrease. The Green turtle population followed a more fluctuating pattern. Although it initially rose slightly above 100 in the mid-1990s, it eventually decreased to around 90 by the end of the period.
