The pie charts below shows the percentage of five kinds of books sold by a bookseller between 1972 and 2012.

The pie charts compares the percentage of five types of books sold by a bookseller between 1972 and 2012.

Overall, the sales of five types of books experienced different trends in the time period. While the percentage of fiction books increased, the sales rate of biography, travel, and others decreased over the period.

As the chart shows, the sales of adult fiction books started at 20%, and it increased to 5% within 20 years. However, it reached the highest rate to

45 percent in 2012, by witnessing significant growth. Children’s fiction books also experienced an increase in the 40 year period. It began at 20%, and it increased slightly to 22% and 25% in 1992 and 2012, respectively.

By contrast, the sales of biography books experienced a stedy decrease within 40 years. As the sales biography books started at 20 percent, it decreased to 15 percent in 1992. However it reached a low of 8 percent in 2012. The sales of travel books started at 15 percent, and it increased slightly to 18 percent. Despite of a slight increase within 20 years , it experienced a significant decrease to 10% in 2012. Regarding the sales of other books, it began at 25%. But it witnessed a considerable decrease to 20 percent and 12 percent in 1992 and 2012, respectively.
