The chart below shows the numbers of three types of visitors to a museum between 1997 and 2012.

The bar chart illustrates the number of three categories of museum visitors — adult visitors, visitors aged under 15, and special exhibition visitors — over four selected years: 1997, 2002, 2007, and 2012.
Overall, adult visitors consistently made up the largest group throughout the period, with a noticeable peak in 2007. In contrast, the number of visitors under 15 and those attending special exhibitions remained relatively lower and more stable.
In 1997, there were approximately 300,100 adult visitors, increasing slightly to 302,200 in 2002. This figure then rose significantly to 400,500 in 2007, before dropping to 380,000 by 2012. Visitors under 15 followed a gradual decline from 120,000 in 1997 to 82,300 in 2012. Special exhibition visitors started at 28,000 in 1997 and fluctuated slightly, reaching a peak of 42,000 in 2012.
In total, museum attendance was highest in 2007 (525,200), suggesting that year marked the museum’s peak popularity across all visitor types.
