SAMPLE ANSWER
The line graph illustrates the changes in the proportion of registrations for three types of commercial vehicles—trucks, taxis, and buses—in the United States from 1970 to 2010.
In 1970, trucks had the highest registration share at nearly 48%, followed by taxis at around 28%, and buses at just 5%. Over the next decade, truck registrations declined significantly, dropping to about 35% in 1980, while taxi registrations rose sharply to 37%. Bus registrations peaked at around 15% during this period.
Between 1980 and 2000, taxi registrations steadily declined to a low of approximately 15%, whereas truck registrations remained relatively stable before gradually rising. Bus registrations experienced a steady fall, reaching below 5% by 2010.
By 2010, both trucks and taxis saw an increase, with trucks leading at about 45%, closely followed by taxis at 35%, while bus registrations continued their downward trend.
Overall, trucks consistently remained the most registered commercial vehicles.
