IELTS ACADEMIC WRITING TASK 1
The diagram below shows how fabric is manufactured from bamboo.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

SAMPLE ANSWER
The diagram illustrates the nine-step process of manufacturing fabric from bamboo plants.
The process begins with the planting of bamboo in spring, followed by harvesting in autumn. Once collected, the bamboo is cut into strips, which are then crushed to create liquid pulp. The next step is to filter the pulp, separating the long fibres from the liquid.
In the sixth stage, the extracted fibres are softened by adding water and amine oxide, which prepares them for the spinning process that turns the fibres into thread. This spun thread is then woven into fabric, which is finally used to produce clothing items such as t-shirts and socks.
Overall, the production of bamboo fabric involves a combination of mechanical and chemical processes, beginning with plant cultivation and ending with textile manufacturing. Notably, softening and spinning are critical for transforming bamboo pulp into usable fabric.
