The diagram below describes how a solar box oven cooks food.

The diagram illustrates the step-by-step process of cooking food using a solar box oven.
To begin with, a cardboard box is painted black to enhance heat absorption. A pot containing vegetables is then placed inside the black box. This smaller box is subsequently positioned inside a larger box, and the space at the bottom is filled with insulating materials such as newspaper, grass, or sawdust.
Next, the top of the larger box is covered with aluminium foil, and a glass lid is placed on top. The entire setup is then placed under direct sunlight, ideally at a temperature above 82°C. The black colour absorbs solar radiation, while the foil reflects additional sunlight into the box, converting light into heat energy. The insulation helps retain the heat, thereby cooking the food inside the pot.
Overall, the solar box oven is a simple and eco-friendly method of cooking that uses basic materials and renewable energy from the sun.
