The bar chart below shows the production of the world’s oil in OPEC and non-OPEC countries.
Write a short report for a university lecturer describing the information shown below.

The bar chart illustrates the forecasted growth in global oil production from three sources—OPEC Middle East, Other OPEC nations, and Non-OPEC countries—across three decades: 1980–2000, 2000–2010, and 2010–2020. The figures are measured in millions of barrels per day.
Between 1980 and 2000, Non-OPEC countries were the dominant contributors, producing around 8 million barrels daily, while OPEC Middle East’s contribution was minimal. However, in the following decade (2000–2010), oil production from OPEC Middle East surged significantly, reaching approximately 7 million barrels/day, nearly equal to the Non-OPEC output.
A major shift occurred in the 2010–2020 period, where OPEC Middle East became the primary source of increased oil production, accounting for nearly 15 million barrels/day. In contrast, both Other OPEC and Non-OPEC regions contributed only marginally.
Overall, while Non-OPEC nations initially led in oil production growth, the trend reversed over time, with OPEC Middle East emerging as the dominant force by 2020.
