IELTS ACADEMIC WRITING TASK 1
The diagrams below show the generation of electricity using an artificial lagoon and tidal power. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

SAMPLE ANSWER
This process diagram illustrates the main component, sea water, circular lagoon, and turbine which are needed for electricity production. There are several steps for both high and low tide to generate electricity.
Upon initial observation, it is clear that there are three steps to this process. The flowing water into lagoon, producing power and then the movement of water out of lagoon which happens every 12 hours.
In the beginning, when the high tide happens the water might starts to coming up and water flows to circular lagoon through the inflow gate, then this water pressure make the reversible turbine spin and this cause the electricity generation.
In the next step, low tide happens which means water goes back and its height and pressure reduce. In this state water comes out through outflow gate and make the turbine rotate.
In summary, once this entire process is defined in becomes clear that both man-made and natural features are needed in this cyclical process for the continuous production of electricity power.
