The bar chart below shows information about changes in average house prices in five different cities between 1990 and 2002 compared with the average house prices in 1989.

The bar chart, which illustrates the percentage change in the average residential prices in five cities, namely New York (USA), Madrid (Spain), Tokyo (Japan), Frankfurt (Germany), and London (UK) from 1990 to 2002, compared with those in the year 1989.
Overall, it is evident that there was a fluctuating trend in average housing prices observed in all presented cities, with London showing the highest increase among them.
According to the bar graph, from 1990 to 1995, the prices of homes in New York decreased by 5%, While in Madrid they increased by roughly 2%. Next, in Tokyo, there was a dramatic decrease of around -7% to 8%. Moreover, in Frankfurt, prices rose by approximately 3%. Finally, in London, there was also a significant drop, close to that of Tokyo, around 7% to 8% during the same period.
Interestingly, over the period 1996-2002, the cost of houses in New York saw a slight increase of 5%, Whereas, in Spain, there was also an increase of around 2% compared to the period from 1990 to 1995 when there was a 4% increase. As seen, in Tokyo, there was a considerable drop of roughly -5%. Additionally, in Frankfurt, prices rose by approximately 2%. Notably, there was a significant increase of around 12% in London.
