SAMPLE ANSWER
The table highlights some of the key characteristics of nine planets in the solar system. While
Mercury is the closest planet to the sun with a distance of exactly 36 million miles, Pluto is the furthest, and just over 100 times further away, at 3,647 million miles. The largest planet, however, is Jupiter with a diameter of 88,846 miles and approximately 14,000 miles bigger than Saturn, the next biggest planet. Uranus and Neptune are the closest in size to each other at 31,763 and 30,755 miles respectively.
The only planet to have oxygen as part of its atmosphere is the Earth but six planets have hydrogen and four planets contain both helium and methane. Saturn has more moons than the other planets with 30 in total whereas only the Earth and Pluto have one moon apiece. Both Neptune and Pluto have exactly the same average temperature of the atmosphere at minus 223 centigrade.
