SAMPLE ANSWER
The chart presents data on the proportions of people in the UK in 2022 that fell into four weight groups, namely, obese, overweight, normal and underweight. As a general trend, we can see that older age groups contain a larger percentage of overweight and obese people.
The youngest age group in the chart, 16 to 24 year olds, has the smallest percentage of obese people in it. Only 13% of people suffer from obesity. This percentage increases significantly in the next two age groups, at 23% for 25-34 year olds, and 30% for the 35 to 44 age range. The proportions of obese people in the subsequent age groups only increases slightly and ranges between 33% and 36%, although the final age group, 75+, contains a significantly smaller percentage of obese people, at 26%.
The percentage of overweight people is relatively small in the youngest age group, at 24%. This jumps to 35% in the next age group and reaches 45% in the oldest group of 75 year olds and older. The percentage of people who are a normal weight begins at 56% for 16 to 24 year olds, but by the 45 to 54 years age group, it has declined to 27%. This percentage remains approximately the same in the following age ranges.
