The two line graph show the trends in six popular male and female names in the UK between 1925 and 2000.

Overall, apart from Daniel, both girls’ and boys’ names generally became popularity after 1975. However, the boys’ names had the more popularity than the girls’ name during the period given.

For the figures of the boys’ name, Daniel has been most consistently popular name that started with nearly 4 per thousand in 1925. This name’s figure consistently continued to increase over 50 years, and it reached the highest number at 12 per thousand in 1975. On the other hand, Alexander has been the least popular, even it stayed below 2 per thousand until 1975. However, after this point, it experienced a sharp and gradually increase and hit the peak trend in 2000. Furthermore, Oliver had the most fluctuation, and it was not the preferred name in 1975. However, this figure climbed up to nearly 11 per thousand in the last period given.

Compared with boys’, the girls’ names had the less popular and more stable from 1925 to 2000. Both Sophia and Isabella were not almost using until 1975, but they swiftly uptrend at nearly 12 and 9 respectively in 2000. Moreover, Emily was more popular than other girls’ names, and it was also below 2 until 1975. Then it rapidly increased and reached the peak figure at 11 per thousand in 2000.
