ACADEMIC WRITING TASK 1

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
SAMPLE ANSWER
The given line graph represent the number of men and women who won the elections held in four years, that is, in 1992, 1997, 2002 and 2007.
The chart reveals that in 1992 elections, 60 men romped home to victory as against only 8 women. In the next election, held in 1997, the number of men who secured seats in the state assembly was nearly 65, but women improved their position only marginally, by two, thus ensuring only 10 berths in the assembly. In the ensuing elections of 2002 and 2007, males succeeded in grabbing 70 and 80 seats respectively, but the females had to remain content with only about 12 positions in both the years.
It is interesting to note that men climbed the ladder of success in all the four elections –from about 60 to 80 but women could register only a slight rise from nearly 8 to 12.
