Big brand names: large well-known companies or product names
Sentence– Some people always go shopping from Big brand names either they advertise their products or not.
To be careful with money: to not over-spend
Sentence– I am not an impulsive buyer as I am careful with money
Carrier bag: bags (usually plastic) supplied by shops
Sentence– Government have banned the plastic carriage bags so I always carry one when I go shopping.
Customer service: the degree to which customers are treated well
Sentence– Companies who give better customer service always grow.
To get into debt: to owe money
Sentence– Its better not to shop rather to get into debts
To give someone the hard sell: to put pressure on someone to buy something.
Sentence– The sales man in the shops always try to give the hard sell.
High street names: well-known shops.
Sentence– High street shops don’t need to do any sort of advertisement.
Independent stores: small shops independent of large companies
Sentence– Independent stores always have a large variety of goods as compared to others and even they don’t advertise much.
Local shops: community shops.
Sentence– Items in Local shops are usually expensive and of low quality.
