In today’s competitive world, salary differences among employees are a common practice. Some people believe that paying all workers the same salary can promote harmony and mutual respect within a company. However, I strongly disagree with this view, as it would reduce motivation and hinder the company’s overall progress.

To begin with, equal pay for all employees disregards individual skills, experience, and responsibilities. For instance, a manager or a software engineer with years of experience should logically earn more than a newly hired office assistant. If everyone receives the same salary, hardworking and talented employees may feel undervalued and demotivated. Consequently, this could lower productivity and lead to a lack of innovation within the organisation.

Furthermore, salary differences often act as an incentive for personal and professional growth. When employees see opportunities for higher pay based on performance, they tend to work harder and develop new skills. For example, companies like Google and Microsoft reward employees based on their achievements, which helps maintain motivation and a healthy work culture.

On the other hand, equal pay may reduce jealousy among colleagues in the short term, but it is unlikely to sustain harmony in the long run. Without fair recognition of effort and expertise, resentment and dissatisfaction may still arise.

In conclusion, while the idea of equal pay may seem fair, it is impractical in a real-world work environment. Salary differences based on role and performance are essential to encourage efficiency, motivation, and long-term respect within a company.
